The Mercy of Gods
by James S. A. Corey (2024)
I watched (and loved) The Expanse, but never read the books. This is the authors’ new series—James S. A. Corey, it turns out, is two people writing under a pen name. I tore through this. The setting, the science underpinning the narrative (though it’s not hard sci-fi), the environments—they’re all compelling. But it’s the characters and their experiences and struggles that really drive the story. It’s one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in a while, at least as fun as The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress.
