Claude Code introduces Opus Plan Mode

I don’t use Claude Opus all that often because the limits on the $20/month Pro plan are pretty low, and I’ve never changed from the default model in Claude Code, but I want to try out the new feature mentioned in this tweet.

Claude Code has a read-only Plan Mode (which I’ve also never used), and you can now set Claude Code to use Opus when planning and Sonnet (which has been 100% of my Claude Code usage until now) for everything else. I have some more intricate projects to explore coming up, and they’ll be a good testing ground. I’ll probably try it out both for building new things from scratch and for improving work-in-progress projects.

I had to look up Plan Mode in the Claude Code documentation.
